# Salesforce

> Connect Salesforce to log completed Tasks on Accounts and Opportunities.

Sales Ask logs a completed Task on the matched Account or Opportunity, pulls Opportunities and Events, and lets reps create new Accounts and Opportunities.

## What Sales Ask uses in Salesforce

| Object | How Sales Ask uses it |
| - | - |
| Opportunities | Reads Opportunities to match calls and sync amount and stage; creates new ones when a rep adds a client |
| Accounts | Reads Accounts and billing addresses to match calls; creates new ones when a rep adds a client |
| Events | Reads the rep's upcoming Events to show their appointments |
| Tasks | Logs a completed "Sales Ask Recording" Task on the matched record |
| Users | Matches reps to active Users by email, and sets them as owner on new records |
| Opportunity Stages | Reads active stages so you can map them to open, won, or lost |
| Custom objects | Reads the objects you choose in Salesforce lookup fields, if set |

## What you need

* **Consumer Key**
* **Consumer Secret**
* **Salesforce Domain**

<Info>
  Creating the app requires a Salesforce administrator. Have your Salesforce admin complete these steps.
</Info>

## Create an external client app

Since Spring '26, Salesforce no longer lets you create new connected apps, so create an external client app instead. If you already set up a connected app for Sales Ask, it keeps working.

1. In Salesforce, go to **Setup → External Client App Manager → New External Client App**.
2. Enter `Sales Ask` as the name, add a contact email, and set **Distribution State** to **Local**.
3. Under **API (Enable OAuth Settings)**, check **Enable OAuth**.
4. For **Callback URL**, enter `https://app.salesask.com/oauth/callback`. The client credentials flow doesn't use it, but Salesforce requires a value.
5. Under **OAuth Scopes**, add only **Manage user data via APIs (api)**.
6. Under **Flow Enablement**, check **Enable Client Credentials Flow**, then click **Create**.
7. Open the app's **Policies** tab and click **Edit**. Under **OAuth Flows and External Client App Enhancements**, check **Enable Client Credentials Flow** and set **Run As** to the user Sales Ask acts as. Click **Save**.
8. On the **Settings** tab, open **OAuth Settings** and click **Consumer Key and Secret**. Copy the **Consumer Key** and **Consumer Secret**. Salesforce may ask you to verify your identity first.
9. Copy your Salesforce domain from the browser address bar while logged in, for example `mycompany.my.salesforce.com`. Include the full `.my.salesforce.com`.

<Note>
  A new app can take a few minutes to become active. If Sales Ask can't connect straight away, wait a few minutes and save again.
</Note>

### Run As user permissions

Sales Ask acts as the **Run As** user, so that user needs:

* **Read** access to Accounts, Opportunities, Events, and Users
* **Create** access to Tasks, so Sales Ask can log calls
* **Create** access to Accounts and Opportunities, if reps create new clients from Sales Ask
* **API Enabled** in their profile or a permission set

## Connect in Sales Ask

1. Go to **Settings → Integrations** and search for **Salesforce**.
2. Paste the Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, and Salesforce Domain.
3. Choose a [matching method](/integrations/overview#matching-method) and click **Save**.
